THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY OUR PAGE!

Our Vision For This Site:

Inspired by the authors of "dollar for a wedding"
and "help me pay for my wedding";
we were driven by our own need for financial assistant to plan our wedding, and were motivated to create our page appealing to the generosity of the public to sponsor a fiver (£5 or $5 +/-) for our wedding.

Our History:

Well our story began 2yrs ago, when we connected on a Christian dating website. He was a 28yr old American living in Atlanta GA, and I was 28yr old Brit living in London UK. Our conversations got off to a real good start and within a few short weeks we were convinced we were made for each other. A month later he proposed to me over the phone, and since then we have been as committed to our long distant relationship as two people living in the same country. Since then we have travelled back and forth to see each other and meet our families.

Wedding Plans:

Now that we are both 30, and has been engaged now nearly 2yrs, our aim is to be married by September 1, 2010. We have spoken consistently about our wedding, the location and cost and simply how would we bring both our families together at a minimum cost. Having researched the cost to host our wedding it both countries, we realised just how expensive it would be and decided it wouldn’t be financially viable on both of us to cover all the expenses singlehandedly. We weighted in on alternative options like eloping, but realised we both didn’t wait this long just to have two witnesses celebrate our union with us. So we began brainstorming other ideas such as an overseas wedding and how much it would cost, which is how we got to this point.

Costs:

We decided to keep the budget to the bare minimum it would cost us to host a decent wedding in our country; this without breaking the bank. Our estimate was £5000 or $8000USD. Converted into Caribbean money we could be talking big bucks! So armed with our enthusiasm, we researched destination wedding and how much it would cost. Together we decided on Jamaica, then proceeded
with finding hotels that would provide our wedding ceremony, host our reception and included incentives in their package. We were ecstatic to say the least, as our basic budget when converted would bring us into the remit of $750,000JDM; and would bring us a whole lot further in achieving a very decent wedding celebrated by our families and friends. We have since negotiated ceremony and reception prices with a number of hotels, and have been quite pleased with their offers. However whilst the negotiations has reaped us great offers, we are still unable to capitalize on those offers with a secure deposit of 50%, and is finding it extremely difficult reaching our £5000/$8000 budget on our own.

Our Finances:

My fiancé works full-time, whilst I am a full-time student who has taken a gap year to work and save towards our wedding. Since doing so, I have searched
high and low, attended numerous interviews but unfortunately have been unable to find permanent employment due to the economical climate we are in. However I do work short contracts as a temp, and is very committed to finding permanent employment in the coming months.

Your Help:

Therefore we have turned to the medium that brought us together, to help us once more in joining us together permanently. We are asking kindly that as many of you who can, to please sponsor a small contribution of £5 or $5USD (+/-) to our wedding fund, to help us reach our target buget and to fulfil the our desires to be married this year. Sponsorships of wedding neccesities in exchange for free advertisement are gladly welcomed.

Thank You!

We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance for helping us acheive this great milestone. We look forward filling you in on our progress as they unfold.
